Office 365 upgrade public website favicon

Recent Office 365 upgrade looks great above all a much improved offering. Yet one issue remains. A small problem yet important from a Office 365 customer branding prospective. In the previous version there was a work round for favicon.ico issue. The upgrade blocks the previous work around' for favicon site personalisation. Using SharePoint Designer to edit master page IconUrl="/_layouts/15/images/favicon.ico?rev=23" isn't a possibility. Can't even access the images folder to replace or overwrite facicon.ico. Understandable some folders are best left alone by most end users nonetheless when users can replace website page icon or revert back they are rightly left wondering why is it not possible to do this for a Favicon icon. Wordpress, Blogger seem to be able to allow this. Users expect to be able to do select and use their Favicon. Little things like this loses customers.

Is there a work around?
