I currently have on student accounts on office 365 using the domain my.contoso.edu.
our faculty and staff are hosted on-premises with the domain contoso.edu. when i add the contoso.edu domain to office 365 and do not change my mx record because all mail for contoso.edu should still be sent on-premise. students cannot send email to faculty because the account does not exist.
how must i configure dns to make this work?
I do plan on going to a hybrid deployment but adding the primary smtp domain is the first step.
