Hello,
I would like to verify if the following scenario is true:
I have purchased Lync Online only; I have Exchange 2010 on premises. I have validated my vanity domain @contoso.com within my Office 365 tenant site and have added all of the necessary DNS records for Lync Online to work as intended with my vanity domain. In an environment where DirSync is not enabled (all user accounts were created in the cloud), if an end user has an on-premise MS Exchange mailbox account with an on-premise account ID (i.e. user@contoso.com) that matches the Lync Online account ID (i.e. user@contoso.com) the user can successfully initiate an Online Meeting from the Outlook client for Lync Online.
Is this statement true?
I ask because I previously posted this question last year and was told that Lync Online requires the MAIL attribute from the mail-enabled users account in Active Directory; it is also necessary to add the user's Lync Online SIP Address as an Exchange Proxy Address, so the Exchange server recognizes that the SIP Address is associated with the user's mailbox. DirSync would be required for this deployment to work successfully; see post below.

In my original post I referenced Exchange 2007 on premises; with Exchange 2010 on premise is DirSync no longer a requirement?
Looking forward to your response,
