I am preparing an O365 deployment for my organization. We don't have an AD so there is no dirsync to worry about. Our usual situation is to forward our organization mail addresses to users' personal mail accounts elsewhere, but we may start hosting some users' mail in our Exchange Online system. If I create all the users initially as Mail Users, it's no problem to convert them to real mailboxes by just provisioning an Exchange license, but I have not been able to figure out how to go from a Mailbox back to a Mail User. If I just remove the Exchange license, the account goes to a "User". I've seen some instructions for Exchange which indicate that Set-MailUser might do the trick, but that's not available in Exchange Online.
So is there any way to convert a user from a full Mailbox to a Mail User in Exchange Online?
